Invest in at least one nice painting. Good artwork is key for every room.
Even if your living room is mod, have one antique piece and a comfortable sofa.
Every dining room should contain one antique.

My living room is tiny but has floor to ceiling windows, a fireplace, great artwork and a divine french daybed
