Decoratively
it’s where the eye is drawn, it’s
the center of interest. Lighting sets the
tone for every room and it’s the first
thing you see when you walk in. Good lighting
is always complimentary because during the
day you don’t need it and at night you don’t want
it.
Kitchens and baths need
a lighting combination of good overhead
for working and ambient for warmth.
Bedrooms are better with a
combination of functional
for tasks and ambient for mood.

My
screened in porch and patio area
is my favorite place because it has indoor
& outdoor space. The many layers
of lighting, both natural and designed,
make it calming and entertaining.

Unique
antique finds with a strong story behind
them make a home for everyone. They provide a history
for family and conversation for guests.
Bath - good dense soap,
thick towels, candles and privacy
Kitchen
- industrial Waring blender, big
table for gathering
Bedroom - spare no expense
on the bed and bedding. A good night’s sleep
is too important.
Living Room - fireplace, good
bottle of wine, picture frames

My
kitchen is my very favorite. It
is red with a large old farm table
surrounded by vintage chairs.
Above it hangs a french chandelier with
a great patina of color. My family and guests spend most
of their time in this room. We laugh, we eat, we talk. It
is a wonderful place.

The combination of these three things save me from making
many mistakes.

Use
your silver everyday.
Pets should live in the home as family.
One of the best houses I ever visited was
in Virginia. 5 large dogs lived with the
family in an 1800’s farmhouse. The
french doors were always open and the oriental
rugs were well worn.

I am naturally attracted to fleeting
moments in time that are suspended.
I love to communicate that moment.
Morning is the best time for me to paint
because the light is good and I like passing
the coffee pot. There’s not a lot
of real world hitting me at that point.

I
love the kitchen because a lot of stuff
happens there that you wouldn’t
think of.
